Damone and I have been happily married since January 2002 in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple, where we were sealed for time and all eternity. Our most treasured and sacred moments have been shared with our beautiful children- Lydia, Kyler, Cooper, Maloree, and Lincoln. They are our greatest blessings and truly make life worth living.

Lydia's 7 Birthday/Flower Pot Cake

Lydia has now turned the big #7. She is so excited to be one year away from her baptism. She is growing up so fast.

This is definitely not the most exciting or happiest thing to blog about a birthday but, I don't want to to forget that during the week of her birthday and the next week after, Lydia had caught some weird virus. She had broken out into hives that lasted about two days and then she started complaining that her knee was hurting. That lasted about a day and then it was her ankle, then her right wrist, then her left..... Notice the picture above, it's a little blurry but it shows just how painful it was that she wouldn't even use her arm. This migrating pain went through all of her joints. It was the saddest thing to watch. Tylenol and Ibuprofen brought zero relief. Our doctor was even worried that it could be an autoimmune disease or arthritis-every test came back negative. One night she woke up screaming in pain and cried at the thought of us trying to move her or touch her, and that she wanted to die. It was heartbreaking to see her deal with this much pain. We even had to help her to the restroom and get dressed and she even had friends at school assigned to help her get around and carry her lunch tray. Luckily it is over and she was sure glad to "be a normal kid again."

Flower Pot Cake

I made this cake using two 6inch rounds and one 8inch round, stacked them and then trimmed in the shape of a pot. I cut a hole in the center from the top to the bottom and inserted a cup with water to put the roses in. Lydia got to pick out the flowers and I used crushed up oreos for the dirt.
